So we got off to a great start today, that is after a miscommunication dropping off Jack that resulted in Reese and I stalking the staff to let us in and check Jack in.  That was fun in no way whatsoever!

The drive to Iowa went great.  Lot's of corn....

Our first stop was the Buffalo Bill Museum in Le Claire, Iowa. It was more of a Le Claire museum than a Buffalo Bill museum, but we did learn that Bill was a womanizing drunkard so the trip was not a complete loss.

Little did we know that we were ridiculously close to the home of the History Channel's American Pickers home base shop, Antique Archaeology.  Our little brush with fame provided a fun diversion, though my dad, an avid junk collector, would have complained that everything was way over priced.  He would have still loved it though!  I got a great picture of the staff, not that I knew who any of them were, but they were more than eager to pose for me and if by chance I see them on a future episode I'll feel important.

Next we headed not too far down the road to Walcott, Iowa to the World's Largest Truck stop.  As advertised, it was big.  Truckers can visit the dentist and watch a feature film all under one roof, though not at the same time.

We indulged in ice cream from DQ and headed out toward Des Moines for our first hotel stop.  After a nice dinner and a quick swim we retired to our room to map out tomorrow's adventure.

The van has been roomy and comfortable.  No complaints there.  The truck would have been awfully tight.

We're looking forward to Living History Farms, Rube's Steak House and the Ice Cream Capital of the world, Le Mars, Iowa where we will visit the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Factory.  YUM!!!
